Nomad Poncho: Rain Protection in a Snap
Let’s be honest, we’ve all looked at the weather forecast during turkey season at some point, seen a high percentage chance of rain and decided not to hunt the next day. The Nomad Poncho literally packs a big poncho into a small package, so it can go wherever you go – in the truck, in the back of the vest or in the decoy bag. Nomad’s fabric is fully waterproof, windproof and open enough to allow air in so you don’t get swamp rump when the devil beats his wife – southern slang for rain while the sun’s still out.
The best feature is probably that it rolls up and packs into its own back pocket. Simply open the back enclosure and roll the poncho up into itself in a snap – it closes using Velcro but you get the point. Nomad has a good video on the simple procedure here.
The Nomad Poncho is intentionally sized to be worn over your turkey vest or pack to provide full protection down to the knees while walking or to your feet while set up on a hardwood.
The poncho includes a 1/4-zip front for large noggins to slip through and side snaps for added flexibility, plus an adjustable hood. With an MSRP of $100, it’s on the high end of ponchos, but this one should last for years in the woods, at ballgames, outdoor events and anywhere else when you need to be in the elements.
