Decorate your Christmas tree with the beauty of nature this year using these eco-friendly ornaments. They are easy to make and will be great handmade gifts for family and friends. If you have extra pinecones on hand this holiday season from adventures in the woods, these ornaments are a perfect way to turn those mementos from the woods into memories that hang on the Christmas tree. If you do use pinecones from the woods, be sure to dry them thoroughly to prevent moisture, mold or bacteria from developing.

Materials Needed:
Pinecones (depends on how many ornaments you want to make this Christmas. I used three, but depending on your preferences, you could use more or less.)
Wood Cookies (small wood slices)
Hot Glue Gun
Twine
Steps:
Drill a small hole in the wood cookie for the hanging string. If you prefer, you can also attach twine directly to the back with hot glue.
Carefully separate the individual pinecone scales from the main stem. If the edges are sharp, use pliers or silicone finger protectors to remove each scale safely.
Arrange the pinecone scales on the wood cookie in your desired design, for example, a simple flower pattern or a turkey fan.
When you’re happy with your design, heat your glue gun and secure each piece in place.
